They are just character representatives of people who behave in certain ways. In the stories from Zambia, Kalulu, a hare with big ears, is considered to be the fastest and the cleverest among animals. Animals cook nshima and chicken for each other and sometimes animals cook for people and people cook for animals. Nshima is the staple food of Zambia. It is a thick porridge prepared by mixing hot water with maize meal and served with chicken, vegetables or any other relish.
